From the AR project with painter Jina Park, we keep working together and developing our collaboration. I produced a series of 3D animations based on her painting and ‘Guardians of Cabinets AR’.

As in the previous work, the main task is to preserve the originality of the painting and to balance the CG and analogue materiality. I have mixed the 2D object directly from the painting and 3D characters. The shadow and light play important roles to create intriguing spatiality.

The main concept for AR - the shadow of the dome, and the weather simulations are brought here again and rendered as 3d animation.

Process

It was challenging to play with various light sources while keeping the mood and colour of the original painting. The composition process was so important to find the best tune.
