Spade Company
Character project
Brief
I created characters for internal use at the design agency Spade Company. In order to provide versatility across various scenarios, I devised a family consisting of adult male and female characters, a teenager, and a dog, to replace the stock models typically used by Spade Company. Specifically, I handled the entire process from sketching to modeling, texturing, and rigging for the adult male and female designs.

Model & Texture
The characters were designed with proportions closely resembling real human anatomy. Given the studio's focus on showcasing UX/UI details in close-up shots, special attention was paid to hand details during production.
Maintaining model and texture quality while avoiding making the project too heavy necessitated optimization efforts. High-poly meshes were baked onto low-poly meshes to represent clothing folds and details using textures.
Rig Setup
I rigged the characters using the RH Character Tool, which is the most commonly used plugin within the studio. Additionally, I added extra joints for areas prone to frequent rotation, such as the ankles and shoulders, to prevent mesh distortion. Detailed pose morphs, including finger movements, were incorporated to achieve natural motion.
In the final stages, I organized controllers intuitively using HUDs and shared them along with guide documents, ensuring that even designers unfamiliar with the characters could easily use them.

After the characters were developed, they were promptly integrated into a variety of projects. They are currently playing active roles in projects for Spade Company's major clients, including KT, LG, and Hyundai Motor Group.
